Video Birth Announcement – Baby Aurora

Sweet, sweet Aurora! Talk about a doll baby. We first sat down with the parents of Aurora during our Baby Wishes Maternity shoot with Melissa McClure Photography. They were both anxious to meet their baby, you could see it in their eyes. I couldn’t wait to film Aurora as a newborn and was excited to meet her for the first time. Dad was awesome, making sure she was taken care of during the whole shoot. Mom was radiant and beaming from ear to ear. There is no doubt that Aurora will grow up loved!

Gender Reveal Video

It seems like Gender Reveal Parties are popping up everywhere. They are a fun way to put a surprise in the announcement of a pregnancy. We took the Gender Reveal to a new level – a video! Of course! This one includes the older siblings working on an art project with both blue and pink paint. Which will it be? You will have to watch to find out!

Ideas for Save the Date Videos

The engagement has begun. The venue has been picked. The date has been set. Now it is time to announce the details to your friends and family. Many people choose to send a Save the Date momento to each of their guests. This is especially important if many of your guests live out of town and may need to plan travel. Some couples opt to get creative and make a video Save the Date. You can do this on your own with a video camera and simple editing software. Or you can choose to hire a professional to take care of all the work for you. Either way, here are a few suggestions to get the creative juices flowing.

The Engagement

Have a friend film the actual proposal story. Consider clips of picking out a ring, planning the big event and the moments before the proposal. It is fun to see the behind the scenes story that are leading up to the, “yes!” Edit these clips together, add the date to the end and share the moment with the world.

The Love Story

Take a more traditional approach and tell your love story. Include detaila of where you met, how it happened and what brought you both together. Perhaps doing a “her story” and “his story” could lead to some funny differences in storytelling. Recreating the events could provide some comedy too. This is a great way to introduce your significant other to wedding guests that may not have met your fiancé.

Family and Friends

Sometimes people from the outside of a relationship see a different perspective. You can use this to your advantage by including friends and family in your Save the Date video. Have them tell their version of your love story or engagement story. Or, make a list of questions about your relationship for your parents to answer on camera. Your bridal party can give the top reasons to attend the wedding or consider a lip sync dance video to a favorite song.

The key to a good Save the Date video is to let your personality as a couple shine. Your friends and family will enjoy the extra creativity and you will have a keepsake to treasure for years to come.

After a week of nominations, we narrowed down the submissions to just one. It was the most difficult decision we had to make. Every parent is truely wonderful in their own way and each story we read touched our hearts… but one stood out the most.

Drum roll please….

Congratulations to Missy L.! Missy was nominated by her husband, who writes, “My wife is the most amazing, selfless, caring person I know. We’ve been through so much this last year, and her courage and hope not only inspire me, but thousands of other couples and women.”

Because Missy wants to inspire others, she has allowed us to share a part of her story. She began starting her family in 2011 and was devastated with a miscarriage at ten weeks. Determined, Missy and her husband began again and had success with another pregnancy, a baby boy. Soon after the news, they began buying the baby essentials and decorating the nursery with great enthusiasm. Unfortunately, they were not prepared for the news of another loss during an ultrasound at twenty weeks. After much grieving, they began a third pregnancy and are awaiting a baby boy due in August!

We can not wait to meet Missy and Bryan. Watch our blog posts for their maternity and newborn sessions in the upcoming months.

Serendipity Gardens with Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School {event}

Imagine sketching in your sketch book or painting on your easel in a relaxed setting with many other artists. Music plays as the models pose in amazing costumes in fun scenes right in front of your seat. No one judges your art, everyone goes at their own pace and everyone learns from each other. That is what Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School is all about.

Set at the Serenditpity Garden Estate in La Jolla, we filmed a garden party hosted by the event organizer, Nikki. It was unlike anything we’ve participated in before and we were inspired to grab a pencil and draw!
